History of the Electric CarDid you know that electric cars were around before the first production cars with internal combustion engines?
Electric cars actually have a proud heritage and they are not a new idea. At a time when internal combustion engines were noisy, filthy, and could only produce a max speed of 15 or so miles per hour many roads were more travelled by electric cars. Electric Cars were quiet, much more reliable and were the preferred choice for the discerning consumers of the day. Even Henry Fords wife had an electric car that she used to run erronds in. However, as decades passed the performance and reliablity of internal combustion engines vastly improved and the electric car became a footnote in the history of the automobile. We a RJ Electricar believe the time is at hand for the Electric Car to rise from the storied ashed of its history and finally take it's rightful place as KING OF THE ROAD!!!! Happy Driving. Did You Know ? Some of the first electric vehicles were built in 1835. The first electric Taxis hit the streets of New York City in 1897. In 1899, a Belgian built electric racing car set a world record for land speed at 68 mph. |
